Scenes from an Iraki Childhood - Incident at Samra
Written by Mohammed Ibn Laith on June 25, 2008 – 10:47 pmThis is Khalid Mohammed, he’s nine years old. The village he’s from is called Samra and it is 15 Kilometres north of Tikrit. Today Wednesday June 25th 2008 the Americans bombed his uncle’s house — those are the ruins you can see Khalid sitting on and crying. The American killed, Khalid’s uncle, his aunt, and four of their children who were aged between four and 11, 3 other children are seriously wounded.
The Americans are now trying to claim that there were no casualties from this attack. Oh really? Tell that to Khalid, tell it to his dead family members. And while you are at it explain to him why he and everyone else in the village were forced from their houses at gunpoint by American troops who, surprise, surprise, didn’t find their imaginary gunman from al-Qaeda in any of the houses. You can also explain to the survivors of the American bombing of their home why having killed their parents and siblings you prevented villagers from using their cars to evacuate the wounded to hospital.
Just another pack of lies, from the cowardly death squad in uniform that calls itself the American army.

أفادت مصادر عراقية وأمريكية أن ثمانية أشخاص قتلوا بينهم جنديان أمريكيان وأصيب (61) بجروح في أعمال عنف وقعت بمناطق متفرقة من العراق، منذ ظهر (الثلاثاء) وحتى قبيل منتصف الليل. فيما اعتقلت القوات الأمنية (29) شخصا، لترتفع بذلك حصيلة العنف إلى (16) قتيلا و(71) جريحا و(40) معتقلا، خلال الساعات الماضية في عموم البلاد.

المرواني:الصدريون قادرون على الإحتفاظ بأسلحتم لمواجهة الإحتلال
اكد راسم المرواني المستشار الإعلامي لزعيم التيار الصدري السيد مقتدى الصدر ان محاولات ضرب التيار قد اسفرت عن نتائج عكسية زادت من قوته.
وشدد المرواني في حديث صحفي نشر اليوم الثلاثاء على أن الصدريين قادرون على الإحتفاظ بأسلحتم لمواجهة الإحتلال.
مشيرًا الى ان “تسليح الفصائل المسلحة من جيش المهدي يتم بجهود وتمويل شخصي”.
وأوضح المرواني أن الصدر بصحة جيدة لكنه رفض الكشف عن مكان وجوده، وقال انه مهتم بالدراسة الحوزوية لأنه يعتبرها تكليفًا شرعيًا.
واضاف ان دافع الصدر لشطر جيش المهدي مؤخرًا الى قسمين “عسكري لمواجهة الإحتلال وعقائدي للدعوة الإسلامية هو التصدي لأجندات الإحتلال”.
وحول انضمام التيار الصدري الى جبهة قوى معارضة يجري الاعداد للاعلان عنها قريبا وتضم عدة كتل ، قال المرواني ان تكتيكات المرحلة قد تقتضي بتشكيل تحالف معين مع الحفاظ على الإستراتيجيات.

وزارة الدفاع : معركة ديالى ستحسم قبل انتخابات المحافظات
ذكر المستشار الإعلامي لوزارة الدفاع، الثلاثاء، أن أوامر صدرت من الحكومة العراقية بالتحضير لحملة عسكرية واسعة في ديالى، لفرض الأمن في المدينة ضمن خطة أشمل تقضي بعدم إبقاء أية منطقة ساخنة قبيل انتخابات مجالس المحافظات المقرر إجراؤها في شهر تشرين الأول المقبل.

حزب الدعوة تنظيم العراق يعلق اجتماعاته في الائتلاف
ذكر القيادي في حزب الدعوة الإسلامي- تنظيم العراق عبد الهادي حساني ان الحزب علق حضوره اجتماعات كتلة الائتلاف العراقي الموحد بسبب ما وصفه بعدم وجود توازن في صنع القرار.
واضاف حساني ان هناك مقترحات قدمت لدراسة وضع الائتلاف والتأكيد على تطبيق النظام الداخلي وجعل الائتلاف ضمن مشروع واحد.
واوضح أن رجوع الحزب إلى اجتماعات الائتلاف يعتمد على الاستجابة لمطالبه المتمثلة بإعادة التوازن في صنع القرار وجعله جماعيا وتطبيق نظامه الداخلي.
من جهته، نفى عضو الائتلاف العراقي الموحد عباس البياتي أن يكون حزب الدعوة -تنظيم العراق قد علق عضويته من اجتماعات الائتلاف، معللا عدم حضور الحزب الاجتماعات مؤخرا الى انتظاره رد الائتلاف على المطالب التي قدمها بشأن اتخاذ القرارات باسم الائتلاف اضافة لبعض الامور الفنية.
اعتقال 5 من منتسبي شرطة كربلاء
اعتقلت القوات الأمنية خمسة من منتسبي شرطة كربلاء بسبب الإخلال بواجبهم ومساعدة احد المطلوبين الخطرين على الهرب.
وقال مدير شرطة كربلاء اللواء رائد شاكر جودت ان القوات الامنية اعتقلت امس الاثنين خمسة من منتسبي الشرطة وتقرر طردهم من الخدمة بسبب الإخلال بواجبهم وذلك بمساعدة احد المطلوبين الخطرين على الهرب إلى خارج المحافظة.¨

أفادت مصادر أمنية أن ستة أشخاص قتلوا وأصيب 22 آخرون بجروح، فيما اعتقلت الأجهزة الأمنية ثلاثة من المطلوبين في إطار أعمال عنف وقعت في مناطق متفرقة من العراق خلال الـ 24 ساعة الماضية.
افادت مصادر امنية، ان شرطيا قتل واصيب ستة اشخاص بجروح، فيما اعتقلت قوات الامن 14 شخصا في اطار اعمال عنف وقعت في مناطق متفرقة من العراق من الساعة الثانية ظهرا وحتى الساعة العاشرة من مساء اليوم الاحد، لترتفع بذلك حصيلة اعمال العنف الى سبعة قتلى، و28 جريحا، و17 معتقلا خلال الـ(24) ساعة الماضية في عموم ارجاء العراق.

- A policeman was killed.

Bush’s War on Children in Iraq

In the ensuing slaughter, as the US dumped bombs, napalm, phosphorus, anti-personnel fragmentation weapons and an unimaginable quantity of machine gun and small arms fire on the city, it is clear that many of those young boys died.
Surely nothing that President Bush has done in his two wretched terms of office—not the invasion and destruction of Iraq, not the overturning of the five-centuries-old tradition of habeas corpus, not his authorization and encouragement of torture, not his campaign of domestic spying—nothing, can compare in its ugliness as his approval, as commander in chief, of the imprisoning of over 2500 children.
According to the US government’s own figures, that is how many kids 17 years and younger have been held since 2001 as “enemy combatants”—often for over a year, and sometimes for over five years. At least eight of those children, some reportedly as young as 10, were held at Guantanamo. They even had a special camp for them there: Camp Iguana. One of those kids committed suicide at the age of 21, after spending five years in confinement at Guantanamo. (Ironically and tragically, that particular victim of the president’s criminal policy, had been determined by the Pentagon to have been innocent only two weeks before he took his own life, but nobody bothered to tell him he was slated for release and a return home to Afghanistan.)

مصرع 8 مدنيين بنيران مروحية اميركية قرب بيجي
Written by Editors on May 22, 2008 – 1:18 pmقال مدير شرطة قضاء بيجي العقيد مظهر القيسي اليوم الخميس ان ثمانية مدنيين بينهم طفلان لقوا مصرعهم بنيران مروحية اميركية قرب القضاء . واضاف القيسي ان “مروحية أميركية كانت تقوم بتأمين رتلا امريكيا اطلقت النار الليلة الماضية على سيارة كانت متوقفة في الطريق الخدمي قرب قرية المزرعة ، ما أدى إلى مصرع ثمانية مدنيين يبنهم سبعة من عائلة واحدة بضمنهم طفلان ومزارع كان بالقرب من السيارة”. مشيرا الى ان “القوات الأميركية بررت الحادث بأن عجلات الرتل اشتبهت بالسيارة المتوقفة وأوعزت للمروحية بإطلاق النار عليها”.
Updated: An overnight U.S. air strike killed 8 civilians 7 of them including a woman and 2 children all of the same family and a passing shepherd not of the family in Mazra’a village near Beiji, Salahaddin.
(Update: One the children was 8 the other was 11 according to our correspondent in the area.)
According to the local police commander Colonel Mathhar Al-Qaysi. He said that U.S. troops conducted a search operation late on Wednesday in village, that villagers had tried to flee the village using the in the service road , and that the Americans had fired on them on the pretext that they were suspicious. [Editor’s note: There have been many indiscriminate fire incidents by the Americans in that area which is why the shepherds panicked and tried to flee.] An English report on Aswat Al-Iraq quotes the colonel as saying:
“Police forces rushed to the car and found the dead family unarmed,”
The photo shows some of the bodies of the civilians killed by the Americans outside the local Mosque.
