The Attack On The Ambulance At Touz Khourmatou May 25th 2008 (Photo Report)
Photos of the aftermath of the bomb attack on the Ambulance at Touz Khourmatou May 25th 2008. The bomb was planted beside the road near the checkpoint about 25 kilometres southwest of Kirkuk. It was carrying two people who had been wounded in a separate blast.
Photo 1:
The bomb was detonated by radio control, the blast wounded the ambulance driver and a member of the FPS was slightly injured the photo shows part of the result the shrapnel from the bomb slicing through the ambulance. Most of the shrapnel went through the area where the patients lie.
Photo 2:
The ambulance driver is the sole breadwinner for a family of 9 people. His duty is to bring patients to hospital irrespective of who they are or what is wrong with them, sickness or injury. Ambulances are routinely attacked by all parties to the various conflicts in Irak and the death toll among Ambulance drivers has been high.
