Yesterday the 29 of May 2008 the soccer championship organised for Irakis between 10 and 14 years old now resident in Sweden was the final day - most of us in Sweden are recent arrivals as refugees. The championship was organised by the Islamic Unity Assembly and it is open for all of us without thought of who we are. Everyone stopped to pray Al-Fatihah for the martyrs of Irak. The referee was Mr. Waddah Yahhja and he was helped by linesmen from Sweden, The match went on through extended time but the score was still even 2-2 so there was penalty shootout which decided the tournament for the Black Hawks team.

I am sorry families have to leave their homeland in order for their children to lead ‘regular’ lives - but I am always happy to hear soccer news. The match sounded like a real nail biter!
The source is a report in Arabic emailed to us from one of our readers who now lives in exile there. They very kindly wanted to write it in English also as practice for their school work.
