Baghdad, Dec 3, (VOI) – Abu Firas, a 55-year-old retired civil servant, has been a frequent customer of one of the well-known cafés in the area of Baghdad al-Jadida (New Baghdad), east of the capital.
In this café, the "clique" meets regularly and exchanges mellow talk on public as well as private matters.
Abu Firas, who had the "sweetest" memories in this place where he always smokes his shisha, or narjila, had also experienced bitter days when he and his friends stopped going to their favorite meeting point due to bad security conditions and "the car bombs that always target our areas."
"I haven’t seen many of my friends because the café closes at an early hour and some of my fellows do not venture to come to the café out of fears from bombings and killings," he said.
However, with relatively improved security conditions the café and scores of similar cafés in Baghdad started to breathe life again and Abu Firas started meeting the "clique" once again.
"We started enjoying our shishas again," said a jubilant Abu Firas while puffing a smoky cloud in the air.
Abu Zakaria, 40, an inhabitant of the al-Fadl area, eastern Baghdad, used to spend most of his time at the café. He, like everyone else, suffered from zero social life after cafés in the area, where a sectarian conflict was flaring up after gunmen took control, closed its doors.
"Now we can sit at the café all night after it used to be closed to us even during daytime," he said.
Amer al-Aamri, a 37-year-old engineer, believes security improvement in the capital was reflected positively on the ancient sites and cafés in Baghdad.
"It is now so normal to go out and sit at Baghdad’s cafés at night, particularly those cafés on the street on Abu Nawwas, which is the most beautiful thing about Baghdad," al-Aamri, a resident of the central Baghdad district of al-Karrada, said.
Abu Anwar, an owner of a café in al-Bayyaa district, southwest of Baghdad, said his coffee shop was swarming with customers until late hours at night but that was before security conditions deteriorated in Baghdad.
"Despite this stability and the return of some customers we sill have some fears opening during late at night," he said.
Qassem Atta, the spokesman for the Fardh al-Qanoon, or law imposing, a security plan launched by the Iraqi government in mid-February 2007 in a bid to impose order in the capital and its environs, said Baghdad’s night life returned thanks to security improvements.
"Most of the terrorist networks have been dismantled after large numbers of leading members of al-Qaeda Organization in Iraq and other terrorist groups were eliminated and thousands others wanted on charges of involvement in acts of terror arrested," explained Atta.
He indicated that support "by the clansmen to the Iraqi security forces contributed generously to weakening these groups. Now stores, markets and parks opened again and several families forced to relocate to other areas returned to their original residential places."
"Security in Baghdad will be even enhanced by adding more army and police units thanks to more volunteers from the different clans in the capital," he added.
Most of café frequenters hailed the improved security conditions, but café owners still smell a rat.
"As you can see, the café door is left ajar. With all due respect to security efforts, we’re not going to rest on our laurels until genuine reconciliation is in place," emphasized an owner of a Baghdad café.

أبو  فراس موظف متقاعد يبلغ من العمر 55 عاما  اعتاد ارتياد احد المقاهي المعروفة في منطقة (بغداد الجديدة) شرق بغداد . في هذا المقهى يلتقي" شلة الأصدقاء" كأنهم على موعد ،يتبادلون الأحاديث عن كل الأمر لخاصة العامة .. بهذا المقهى ارتبطت أجمل ذكرياته وفيه يجد صديقته الدائمة "النرجيلة".

وقد عاش أبو فراس أياما حزينة حين انقطع عن المقهى وعن شلة الأصدقاء بسبب سوء الأوضاع الأمنية و"المفخخات التي دائما ما تستهدف منطقتنا." يصف أبو فراس تلك الأيام "الكثير من الأصدقاء لم أرهم بسبب إغلاق المقهى أبوابها  مبكرا،  بعضهم لا يأتون خوفا من المفخخات والاغتيالات ."

مع التحسن الأمني النسبي عادت الحياة لهذا المقهى ولعشرات المقاهي البغداية وعاد ابو فراس للقاءالشلة وقال "لا تتصور فرحي حين بدأ المقهى منذ حولي الشهر يفتح أبوابه بعد تحسن الوضع الأمني.. بدأت ارى أصدقاء لم أرهم منذ سنوات . صار المقهى يفتح ليلا بعد ان كانت يغلق حتى في النهار، وبدأنا نستمتع بالنرجيلة من جديد."

أبو زكريا  ( 40 عاما ) من سكان منطقة الفضل (شرق  بغداد) كان يقضي معظم وقته في المقهى ، عانى ما عاناه غيره من انقطاع عن الحياة الاجتماعية بعد إغلاق مقاهي المنطقة التي صارت منطقة صراع طائفي بعد سيطرة المسلحين . يقول أبو زكريا "الآن نستطيع أن نجلس في هذه المقاهي في الليل بعد أن كانت محظورة  علينا سابقا حتى في النهار."

المهندس عامر العامري(37عاما) يرى أن التحسن الأمني الذي طرا على العاصمة بغداد انعكس بصورة مباشرة على المعالم التراثية والمقاهي البغدادية وأضاف العامري الذي يسكن في منطقة الكرادة وسط بغداد " بات من الطبيعي الخروج إلى مقاهي بغداد ليلا ، خصوصا المقاهي المعروفة في شارع أبو نؤاس." وأشار العامري الى أن مقاهي شارع أبو نؤاس "أجمل ما في بغداد" وتابع "رجعت أيام أبو نؤاس ودبت الحياة فيها من جديد، خاصة بعد  التجديد الذي قامت به أمانة بغداد ، وبذلك بدأنا نخرج ليلا لنستمتع بالنرجيلة والسمك المسكوف ."

أبو أنور صاحب احد مقاهي بغداد الشعبية في منطقة البياع (جنوب غرب بغداد) يقول ان المقهى كانت تزخر بالزبائن إلى ساعات متأخرة من الليل ولم تفرغ من روادها الا بعد تدهور الوضع الأمني في بغداد ، وأضاف أبو أنور" لكن بعد عودة الأمن إلى العاصمة عاد رواد المقاهي من جديد " لكنه يستدرك "بالرغم من الاستقرار الأمني وعودة بعض الزبائن الا اننا ما زلنا نتخوف من  أن نفتح أبواب المقهى إلى ساعات متاخرة من الليل."

أوشك أبو صباح ، صاحب احد المقاهي في منطقة الاعظمية( شمالي بغداد) أن يغلق المقهى نهائيا ، لكنه فتح المقهى حالما "استقرت أوضاع الاعظمية وبدأت الناس  ترتاد المقاهي " وبين أبو صباح "نفتح إلى ساعة متأخرة من الليل بعد أن كنا لا نفتح الا أوقات محدودة من النهار."

الناطق باسم  خطة فرض القانون قاسم عطا  يقول لـ ( أصوات العراق ) ان عودة الحياة لليل بغداد ارتبط بالتحسن الأمني" بعد تفكيك معظم الشبكات الإرهابية من خلال قتل أعداد كبيرة من العناصر القيادية لتنظيم القاعدة والمجاميع الإرهابية الأخرى وإلقاء القبض على آلاف العناصر المطلوبة والمتورطة بأعمال إرهابية." وأضاف "أن مساندة أبناء العشائر للقوات الأمنية العراقية أسهم بشكل كبير في إضعاف تلك الجماعات." وبين بأن القضاء على الكثير من الأوكار الإرهابية "أسهم في عودة الحياة الطبيعية إلى اغلب مناطق بغداد وفتح المحال التجارية ، والأسواق العامة ، والمتنزهات، فضلا عن عودة عدد كبير من العوائل المهجرة إلى مناطق سكناها ." وقال "سيتم تعزيز الوضع الأمني  ببغداد  عبر إضافة وحدات جديدة من الجيش والشرطة ، وكذلك من خلال تطوع أعداد أخرى من قوات صحوة العشائر."

أغلب الذين التقيناهم في المقاهى أبدوا استبشارهم بتحسن الوضع الأمني وانعكاسه على حياة الليل البغدادية، لكن واحدا من أصحاب المقاهي دق على الخشب "كما ترى فإن باب المقهى نصف موارب ونصف مفتوح ، ومع احترامنا للجهود الأمنية ، فأننا لن نطمئن إلا إذا تمت المصالحة ."
