  1. Yah! Allah! This new system is tricky. And it is all your fault!

  2. Oh yeah! You boys are very funny. I’ve been logging on for days and haven’t been able to get in! I was beginning to get a complex.

  3. Were you getting a screen saying “Maintenance Mode” and asking you to check back, Dairymaid or was it the new navigation?

How to access a post directly is by clicking the title so for this posting you click:

    The River Euphrates - Samawah

and it “jumps” into the posting.

We needed to do this change because we’re getting a lot of people doing searches in Arabic so Maryam and Fatima told Mohammed and Du to put in “Live Search” they also had to do some drastic reorganisation of the database to take advantage of the Wordpress’ new tagging feature and to make it easier for our Arabic readers (and us!!!) to find what we need.

I gather it was a little tricky, putting in the tags - space comma, is completely different, from just a comma as far as computers are concerned, which is an object lesson to certain people not to make snotty comments in the forum about certain other peoples’ typing mistakes.

There will be - in a few months - one further makeover which we’re all very excited about and which is causing Du and Mohammed a lot of work. Now that Gor is back in Irak and so busy it’s just them and it’s a lot of work.

  4. Haleema-
Many thanks for the explanation. The new site looks beautiful, and I’m sure your readers will appreciate the upgrades. When I arrived at the site, the side bar opened immediately, but the main “frame” just wouldn’t load. The first time it opened was to Mohammed’s lovely photos of the river. Still very slow, though, and hard to scroll down through the main page. Maybe my old computer?

Anyway, thanks to Mohammed and Du for all the hard work!

  5. I like very much the pictures. Even though Iraq is not the peaceful place it should be for its citizens, it is nice to see something peaceful like the river. It gives hope.

  6. This seems to have become the place to comment on new the new facilities you have given us - I like it, and yes working in both the Bilingual and Arabic only posts is much easier - but I think it will take getting used to. I think it also looks very pretty and I really like how as you type in search terms it presents results to you while you are typing.

    Thank you both.
