Reports From Baghdad
24 bodies were found in Baghdad
Soldiers from the American army still trying to subjugate Irak launched a 2 hour series of raids on Sadr City early this morning. There are reports that some of the raids were resisted residents report gunfire. Others of the raids are reported as not having led to any armed confrontations. The raids were supported by helicopter gunships. During the raid the American helicopters fired missiles one such airstrike destroyed trucks used to make deliveries and wounded several civilians (see photo)
Most of the raids were in Al-Kayara and the Americans followed their habit of sealing off the area which is close to Al-Jameela industrial zone.
Residents of Adhamiyah demonstrated against the detentions without charge of citizens from the area. The demonstration was near the Abu Hanifa mosque, the neighbourhood is undergoing repeated raids by American troops and green zone government interior ministry death squads commandos.
5 shopkeepers have been kidnapped and two killed in Al-Mashtal in East Baghdad. The attackers arrived in a convoy of three cars. This is one several such incidents recently and residents are reported to be in a state of panic. Update: 2 of the shopkeepers have been found dead.
Repairs on the Sarafiyah bridge are now 70% complete. It is hoped to be completed by August 1st.
A car bomb explosion near the Al Baghdadi restaurant in Abu Dsheer left 5 dead 15 wounded the toll expected to rise children among victims. Many of the victims were accompanying a wedding party having there photograph taken in the photographers studio next door. Update: Bombing in Abu Dsheer killed 7 and injured 16 other - still an initial toll only. Update: 17 dead 25 wounded.
Four green zone government soldiers were killed and 11 others wounded in combat missions in Baghdad.
A Colonel in the FPS responsible for protecting electrical installations south of Baghdad was ambushed and shot dead by gunmen in Mada’in. Colonel Hussein Kadhim was returning from Baghdad in plain clothes in his own car at the time he was killed.

Reports From The Governorates
Al Anbar Governorate
Accusations are being made in Fallujah that the 70 bodies uncovered in two mass graves recently are of people detained by green zone government police over the past weeks. Fallujah General Hospital confirmed the arrival of 70 bodies removed from the area between Fallujah and Amiriyat al-Musayyib 40 corpses were found last Saturday 30 bodies were found last Monday in the same place. Dr Ahmed Dulaimi of Fallujah General Hospital said that the corpses bore signs of torture, and had been shot in various parts of the body and moreover that the post mortem examinations “proved that the killing went on for several days.” Investigations continue
The toll of Wednesday evening’s suicide bombing near Ramadi killed 5 green zone government policemen of the 15 wounded 7 were police and 8 civilians. The bomber overcame a barrier to carry out his attack. 5 cars in compound also destroyed. 7 of wounded in critical condition according to Dr Ahmed Alaalouani in Ramadi General hospital.
The American base in in Fallujah came under mortar attack this afternoon. Police in Fallujah described the second explosion as “very violent”.
At-Ta’mim (Kirkuk) Governorate
A bomb in Kirkuk has killed one civilian and wounded 4 other people 2 of them green zone government police. (see also: A bomb that exploded in central Kirkuk killed a civilian, two police and three civilians were wounded.)
Basra Governorate
Basrah police headquarters this morning came under missile attack, four mortar rounds fell inside the headquarters compound causing damage to part of the building.
British Consulate guards opened fire this morning at a civilian car was that was passing near the door of the consulate wounding its driver.
Dhi Qar Governorate
The warehouse fire on the 3rd of June in Nasiriyah was the result of negligence the fire destroyed more than on 1 billion dinars of material and spread quickly because there was no water to fight the blaze.
4500 Housing plots have been earmarked in Nasiriyah for victims of the former regime families who can prove that members were killed are eligible to apply for a plot and a grant for constructing a house. They are also entitled to apply for a pension as well as free heatlh care..
Diyala Governorate
Mandali is under curfew. Fighting in the town last night lasted two hours. WNA report that armed clashes took place for more than two hours this morning in the town.
A green zone government army patrol was bombed on the main Khanaqin road. 90Km nE of Baghdad. 5 soldiers wounded. (Khanaqin is the border town with Iran where a huge bombing of Shia pilgrims took place.)
Karbala Governorate
A successor to the Mayor of Al Hindiya who, as we reported on June 6th, was the second senior Da’awa party politician to resign from the party complaining that he could not do his work because of corruption and incompetence in the governorate has now been appointed.
Muthanna Governorate
Violent armed clashes broke out at dawn Thursday between green zone government security forces and elements of the Al-Mahdi Army in the city of Samawah. The fighting is concentrated in the southern part of the city. Residents report machine gun fire and the use of rockets by both sides. So far one green zone government policeman known to have been killed, 2 civilians killed, 2 civilians wounded.
Salah ad Din Governorate
Green zone government interior ministry commandos going from Baghdad to Samarra were killed three of a group of gunmen who attacked them near near Ishaqi.
