Reports From Irak June 25th 2007 UPDATE 2
Tribal leaders in al-Anbar discussing the bombing of their meeting in the Mansour Hotel in Baghdad yesterday said that the attack betrays either complacency by the security forces charged with protecting the hotel or that the bombing was premeditated and prepared in advance by Iraki political or foreign intelligence bodies. Sheikh Adnan Al-Dulaimi indicated that he suspected American involvement was among the probable causes of the bombing. Sheikh Abdul Karim Fahadaooi of the Fahd tribe said,
“The aim of the meeting was the exchange of viewpoints amongst the tribes of Anbar on the return to government [he means their accepting service with the green zone government] of former Iraqi army personnel and the benefit [to the green zone government] from their experience and dedication to the homeland.”
“the incident gave sufficient argument that the government is unable and incapable of protecting any event either in the Green Zone or neighbouring It and shows how fragile the current position is.”
Compare & Contrast:
Asked why crucial U.S. allies were not provided tighter security, Lt. Col. Christopher Garver said it was “an Iraqi event.” The sheiks did not seek to hold their conference in the fortified Green Zone, but they were more than welcome to, he said.
“Added security may be our response” should other Sunni sheiks hold similar conferences, said Garver, adding that the sheiks, police and government officials at the hotel were “attacked for working within the system and trying to make life better” for Iraqis.

You get absolutely no prizes for guessing which “foreign intelligence bodies” Sheikh Dulaimi was talking about. Hint for the hard of comprehension they don’t speak this language or this one.
