Scenes From An Iraki Childhood April 23 2007

Nice to be able to show a photograph of smiling Iraki children for a change.

Happy Children In Sadr City BaghdadThe photograph was taken today in Sadr City. You can see the full size version of it here.

I think it is fair to say that they do not look unhappy. Wouldn’t you?

What they are standing in is a crater left by a bomb.

The piece of metal they are pointing at is part of an American “Humvee” To be more precise it is part of the special extra added protective armour. Working really well isn’t it?

Have a nice surge. Won’t be long now, and no I feel no pity for those soldiers. None. They are part of the army that is smashing its jackbooted feet into the future of every Iraki child. They came here boasting that they were predators.

“This is what you trained for, Marine!” “You’re the hunter! You’re the predator!”

And that is what they have behaved as. Predators preying upon the civilians of Irak. The predator Ambassadors of a predatory nation. But predators can become prey, and predators cannot expect even the smallest pity from any of their victims. They don’t deserve and will not get any pity.  They don’t deserve and will not get even the smallest respite.

The predators increasingly are becoming prey and that is what it takes with predators the only thing that works with a predator is to make them feel the pain and the fear and the misery that they cause by doing to them what they have done to these children’s people and these children’s future.

No respite. No pity. None.

Enjoy your surge and have a nice day.
