Afterword:
This was as far as Mohammed got. The reply (with this attached) to an anxious email sent this morning revealed that he was forced to stop at that point because like most Baghdadis his family use a generator and only run it for a few hours to conserve fuel.

I continue to read this blog, though it saddens me more every day. For one brief moment we thought that things were going to change, with the new Democratic Congress. As always, hopes are dashed expecting politicians to stand up for what is right. In the meantime, the slaughter goes on and, if the indications are true, Bush and the Israeli’s will be confronting Iran in the near future with no ability to stop him. The future looks bleak and there is no way of bringing back all the Iraqi dead. And, I believe the Lancet figure of 600,000.
After WWII, there were no “good” Germans. They all shared the ignomy of their defeat. They still do, and Israel is the first to remind them. I just don’t know how American children are going to grow up with this albatross around their necks.

Dr.C,
The Democrats cannot change foreign policy. The US constitution gives full power to the president in matters of forign policy. the only way Democrats can change things is by not approving the budget but they are always afraid of being labeled as anti-patriotics for not supporting the troops. It si a vicious cycle…
