Site News: Screw This

I’ve had it with this inferior crap from blogger, and will be moving this site in it’s entirety to it’s own domain within a matter of weeks. I’ll keep you posted.

  1. This seems to be the best place to thank everyone who said “Welcome Back.”

It’s one of several places/sites I run in addition to my “real job.” When I and the others who work on this blog caved in to considerable pressure to start it. We agreed that we’d take breaks. More for the good of our souls than anything else. If you’ve ever heard Tippett’s Oratorio “Child of Our Time” you’ll be familiar with the lines:

“Oh hell is a place of deep despair.

Oh stop poor sinner and don’t go there.”

I was reaching that point and decided not to go there. So were the others. So we voted to take a break and did.

It coincided nicely with a joyful event for me. As most of the regulars here know. Dubhaltach is a bomb disposal officer. Living proof that foolhardiness is an inherited characteristic :-)

He’s been promoted and also decorated for his courage and technical skill. Last week Erdla and I watched the formal ceremony for both events.

He’s now back with his regiment. I don’t have the words to describe the love and joy and yes pride too that I felt watching my son be rewarded for saving lives so I’m not going to try.

    Nunc dimittis.

  2. 1st, well done, Dubhaltach.
2nd, So you should be proud of him too, Mark.
3rd, You did the right thing to take a step back and a well earned breather.
    4th, I second your ’screw blogger’motion.
5th, I wish I wasn’t so thick when it comes to anything tech related, otherwise I’d probably have scaked blogger a while back, and found out how to fend for myself on the web.

  3. I’d be proud of him just for breathing Richard :-) I’m sure you know the feeling. But yeah sometimes pride is the right emotion and yeah - well done Du. Between he and Erdla getting married, the first grandchild on the way and last week’s “big day” it’s been a good time.

  4. Congratulations, Du! I did not realize you were a demolitions expert. It’s very important and exacting work. Do take care of yourself and the growing family.

Mark, I’m not tech-savvy either, but am interested in what works out with your probable blog-site move to a self-contained site.

  5. Mark,
These are great news for you and your family. From the bottom of my heart: Mabrouk.

  6. Welcome back, Mark, and congrats to Du.

  7. Shukran Sophia. Thanks griffon.
