US Soldiers Reflected in pool of water and blood

If ever there were a perfect metaphor for what’s going on in Iraq because the Bush administration decided to launch an illegal and racist war on Iraq with the intention of carving it up, this photo is it. As I sit and type this Monday May 29th 2006 17:25, the reports coming in put the number of killed as at least 33 and “dozens” wounded. ….. Correction make that 35 ….

BAGHDAD, Iraq - CBS News said Monday that two of its crew members were killed in an attack on a U.S. military unit in Iraq. Correspondent Kimberly Dozier was seriously wounded, the network said

Update: as of 19:22 29/05/2006 60 confirmed dead today.

Solutions, MFI, Solutions. Withdrawal? Immediate? New Congress for US? (possible) Renewal of U.S. Constitution which explicitly forbids everything that is going on? (possible)

Immediate withdrawal yes and if that means the “government” which has so little control that to call it a “puppet government” is to insult puppets the world over falls immediately (likely actually) … shrug … that’s their problem.

The single biggest problem and the source of all others in Iraq is the US and allied presence.

Remove that problem and the others start to solve themselves. That withdawal is going to cost a lot and I mean a lot of American lives. But it’ll still be a lot fewer than will be killed if they’re being forced out. You can thank Rummy and his “reforms” and cowards in the pentagon like Pace who didn’t stand up to him for that. What you do with them is your problem.

Ditto the constitution and other matters arising - that’s an internal American matter. But a constitution or any law for that matter is only as good as the determination of the citizenry to see it enforced. It may well be that a painful humiliating and bloody defeat is what it takes to bring the majority of the US citizenry who can’t even be bothered to vote to realise that. That’s generally what it does take to get empires to come to their senses, ask the Brits, French, Dutch, Spanish, Portugese, Russians …..

Again ‘though that’s an internal American problem for Americans to solve.

As for post-war Iraq it’s not going to be peaceful for a long time, the OIC (Organization of the Islamic Conference) have made indications that they’d send in peacekeeper troops if asked and if it were made worth their while. They’re about the only body who have any legitimacy left certainly the UN doesn’t not after it retroactively “legitimised” and is now “legitimisng” everything else that’s going under the occupation.

My personal preference would be to see mostly Malyasians, and Indonesians in as helpers, and nothing more with none from the Middle East, none from India or Pakistan, troops from some European countries might be acceptable, none from NATO countries though.

Lesson to learn? Brown people are human beings and are no longer prepared to tolerate being pushed around by (mostly) white people. I’ve know that all my life, you’re well aware of it too, it’s time the rest of the (mostly) white population of Europe and North America realised it. It’s not as if there aren’t a lot of domestic problems for Americans to fix. Being forced to turn their attention to those problems would help make America be in reality what it aspires to be, cheaper too - how do you like the idea of there actually being enough money for every American child to get the level of preventative midcal and dental care that any Irish /Danish / British / French / Italian / …. child gets as of right?

PS: Compulsory psychiatric treatment for any politician showing signs of that disease called “militarism” would be an excellent public health measure. Doctor markfromireland suggests a course of therapy involving five years as a hospital orderly or fifteen as a street sweeper …..

    MFI,
Thanks. Why don’t I hear this in the MSM or from Poodle and Boy King? No, don’t answer. Rhetorical question.
You are perfectly correct, the basis of American hegemony is racism. It is incredibly inbred in white Americans. Look at the current furor over immigration. The reason we have illegal “guest workers” is because they do jobs like pull skin off chickens and clean septic tanks. As workers, they far surpass the fat, lazy dumb fucks that pass of natives. So, they let them in. Don’t tell me there wasn’t a lax policy to accomodate the plant and factory owners. When you can get a worker for $3.00 an hour and not have to pay for medical insurance or social security, etc., etc., (I know, because I take care of em on the State rolls and they are going to get thrown off those soon, then it will be for free). Jeez, we could rant on for hours.
Solutions. Solutions. You’ve proposed one for Iraq. Let’s see if they pick it up. Ha!
